Open Road MP

Troubleshooting

Crash reports, log files and common problems.

The game crashed

Open Road MP writes a crash report. On the next start the menu shows a dialog with the report and can open its folder. Please attach both files when you report the crash:

  • crashes/crash-<date>.txt – summary with the last log lines
  • crashes/crash-<date>.dmp – memory dump for the developers

Both are in the Open Road MP folder.

Log files

FileContents
launcher.logwarnings and errors of the launcher (update, game start)
core.logwarnings and errors of Open Road MP inside the game
cef.logthe in-game interface (menu, chat, HUD)
Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/game.log.txtthe game's own log

Open Road MP only writes warnings and errors - an empty or short core.log is a good sign. When you report a problem, send core.log, launcher.log and the game's game.log.txt together.

Common problems

"Update failed". The launcher shows why and starts the installed version. Usually the folder is write-protected (e.g. under C:\Program Files) or an antivirus program holds a file - move Open Road MP to a folder of your own, or download it again from the download page.

The server list is empty. The list comes from openroadmp.com - if it cannot be reached, you still have favourites and direct connections.

"Wrong game version". The server requires a different ETS2 version. Update the game via Steam or choose another server.

Other trucks stutter. Look at the Ticks column: servers with more ticks per second move other trucks more smoothly. A stable frame rate on your side helps as well.

The chat does not open. Open Road MP uses the game's own chat key (Controls → Chat). Check that a key is assigned there.
